Bake Me a Cookie publishes two kinds of stories: cookie recipes and roundups by Kate, and Dessert News from our news desk. Here is how each one is made.

Recipes and roundups

  • Recipes and roundups are written by Kate and published under her name.
  • Bake times, oven temperatures, yields and nutrition come from the recipe card. We don’t guess them.
  • Copycat recipes name the bakery or brand cookie they are modeled on. They are our versions, not the original recipes.
  • Roundups gather our own recipes and, where we don’t have one, recipes from other sites. Those are always credited and linked to the original.

Dessert News

  • News is reported by Bake Me a Cookie Editors in a reported, third-person voice.
  • Every fact in a story comes from a published source, usually the brand’s own announcement, and the sources are linked in the story. If we can’t source a story, we don’t run it.
  • Quotes come only from published statements and are attributed.
  • We don’t make taste claims about products we haven’t tried, and we don’t invent urgency or scarcity.
  • We don’t use a brand’s photo without its terms or permission. Our own photos are captioned so nobody mistakes them for the brand’s product.
  • When a story links to one of our recipes, we say whether it is a copycat of the product or simply our cookie on the same idea.
