Snickerdoodle, Eggnog And Cherry Cordial Are Behind The Doors Of Oreo’s Holiday Advent Calendar, 12 Fudge-Dipped Cookies For $44.99

Oreo is selling a Holiday Advent Calendar on its own online shop: 12 doors with a fudge-dipped Oreo cookie behind each one, every cookie a different holiday flavor, for $44.99 plus shipping. The product page marks it new and says stock is limited, and that once it sells out, it is gone.

The 12 flavors behind the doors

Oreo lists the flavors in this order:

  • Salted Caramel
  • Snickerdoodle
  • Eggnog
  • Sugar Cookie
  • Cherry Cordial
  • Cranberry White Fudge
  • Peppermint
  • Orange
  • Caramel & Pretzel
  • Cinnamon Hot Cocoa
  • Coconut
  • Gingerbread

Oreo calls each cookie handcrafted and fudge-dipped. Allrecipes, which reported on the calendar on October 17, says each one is a regular or Golden Oreo. Four of them, Cherry Cordial, Cranberry White Fudge, Gingerbread and Orange, are finished with a drizzle of icing, and the other eight carry a topping, such as mini marshmallows on the Cinnamon Hot Cocoa cookie, according to Allrecipes.

The ingredient list on Oreo’s page fits that description. It covers both the chocolate and the Golden sandwich cookie and names toppings including mini marshmallows, pretzels, peppermint candy, coconut, sprinkles, cinnamon, nutmeg and sea salt. It also says the calendar contains wheat, soy, milk and egg.

Two of the flavors are classic cookies in their own right. Our Classic Snickerdoodle Cookies are made with cream of tartar and rolled in cinnamon sugar, and our Peppermint Drizzle Cookies are a peppermint shortbread finished with a zigzag of melted Andes mints. Neither is a copy of Oreo’s cookie.

A box shaped like a giant Oreo

The calendar itself is printed as an oversized Oreo cookie. Oreo’s product photos show the cookie’s embossed face across the front, 12 numbered doors, a penguin in a knit hat, a snowman and the words “Holiday Countdown.” Allrecipes also describes the box as shaped like a giant Oreo, decorated with a snowman and a penguin.

Price, shipping and how to get one

The calendar costs $44.99 and is sold through Oreo.com. Oreo’s page does not list a shipping price; it says shipping is calculated at checkout. Parade reported that shipping adds $20, and Allrecipes put it at nearly $20, for a total of about $65.

On the same shop, Oreo lists a 12-cookie OREOiD Thanksgiving Fudge-Dipped Cookie Tin for $39.99. On Monday, October 19, Oreo’s store showed the Advent calendar as in stock. The page gives no ship date and no date it stops selling.

The price has drawn comments online. Parade pointed to an Instagram post about the calendar from the account Snackwire, where commenters questioned the cost. “$4 a cookie is insane,” one wrote, as quoted by Parade. Sporked reported similar comments and worked the price out to about $3.75 a cookie before shipping.

Oreo’s is not the only cookie Advent calendar this season. Nestlé Toll House’s $29.99 calendar, which we covered on October 8, takes a different approach: its 12 doors hold packages of cookie dough and baking morsels to bake from rather than finished cookies.

For an Oreo bake of your own, our Cookies and Cream Cookies fold chopped Oreos into the dough and top each cookie with Oreo-studded vanilla frosting and a mini Oreo.
