Dairy Queen And Baskin-Robbins Put Holiday Cookies On The Ice Cream Menu, With A Peanut Butter Blossom Blizzard And Frosted Sugar Cookie Ice Cream
Two ice cream chains are borrowing from the holiday cookie tray. Dairy Queen’s new Peanut Butter Blossom Blizzard arrives Monday, November 2, at participating U.S. locations, and Baskin-Robbins added a Frosted Sugar Cookie ice cream to its menu on Sunday, November 1.
Dairy Queen’s Holiday Cookie Swap Blizzards
Dairy Queen calls its new pair the Holiday Cookie Swap Blizzard Treat Collection, two Blizzards “inspired by two holiday cookie platter staples,” according to its announcement. Both run from November 2 to January 3.

- Peanut Butter Blossom Blizzard (new): Hershey’s Mini Kisses, cookie pieces and peanut butter topping blended into DQ’s soft serve. It’s the classic peanut butter cookie with a chocolate Kiss on top, turned into a Blizzard.
- Peppermint Bark Blizzard (returning): milk and white chocolatey layers with bits of peppermint candy cane.
DQ’s online menu lists the Peanut Butter Blossom Blizzard at 410 calories for a mini, 690 for a small, 1,060 for a medium and 1,390 for a large. DQ hasn’t posted calories for the Peppermint Bark Blizzard yet, and neither the release nor the menu gives prices.
Two deals ride along. For a limited time, the $8 Meal Deal’s sundae can be swapped for any Blizzard, including the two holiday flavors, for $2 more. From November 2 to 29, DQ is selling two cupcakes for $6. Dairy Queen says you need a DQ Rewards account to get its deals.
Baskin-Robbins’ Frosted Sugar Cookie ice cream
Baskin-Robbins’ version of the cookie plate is its new Dessert Table Collection, which joined the menu on November 1 for a limited time.

The cookie flavor is Frosted Sugar Cookie Ice Cream: sugar cookie flavored ice cream with pieces of sugar cookie dough and swirls of pink confetti icing. It also comes as a Frosted Sugar Cookie Shake, blended with milk and simple syrup. The rest of the collection leans toward pie, with a Triple Treat Feast ice cream that combines spice cake and pumpkin pie flavors, plus a sundae made with it.
“If you’re like us, you want to try a little bit of everything,” Nicole Boutwell, Baskin-Robbins’ vice president of brand marketing and culinary, said in the announcement.
The Turkey Cake is back, with $5 off
Baskin-Robbins’ Turkey Cake has also returned for Thanksgiving. It’s an all ice cream cake made to look like a roast turkey, with sugar cone legs glazed in caramel praline topping, and it can be made with any flavor, including the new ones. Orders go through the Baskin-Robbins app or BaskinRobbins.com. Anyone gets $5 off an order placed November 1 to 15, and Baskin-Robbins Rewards members get $5 off from November 16 to 26. Participating shops vary.
The cookies, from our kitchen
None of our recipes is a copycat of either flavor, but the cookies behind them are close to home. Our Hershey’s Kiss Cookies are not peanut butter blossoms: they’re a soft sugar cookie rolled in red sanding sugar, with a Kiss pressed into the middle after baking. Our Sugar Cookies are soft and chewy, made with melted butter and brown sugar and rolled in sugar, and they skip the frosting. And for the peppermint side of the platter, our Peppermint Drizzle Cookies are a peppermint shortbread finished with melted Andes mints rather than bark.
